Large Lecture Theatre Troubleshooting Guide

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. The projector/monitor has not turned on when I pressed the lectern control.

a) Try pressing the ‘Power’ icon on the lectern control (usually top-left of the screen.)

2. I can’t get sound out of the lapel (or handheld) microphone.

a) Press and hold the power buttons as shown until the green light shows on the microphone.

b) Ensure that the microphone is not set to ‘mute’ on the device.

c) Ensure that the device is not muted on the lectern controls.

3. Poll Everywhere does not appear in my PowerPoint menu ribbon as shown below.

a) If Poll Everywhere does not appear here on your PowerPoint menu, you can install it from the software centre if you start typing in the Windows search bar.

b) Click on Poll Everywhere and then click install.

4. I accidently closed one (or more) of the auto-start applications.

a) You should find a shortcut to Blackboard on the desktop image. Double-click to open a new Blackboard window.

b) Panopto and PowerPoint should be available from the Start menu.

Click once to open them again.

5. Panopto won’t start a recording.

a) Check that the Audio and Video settings under Primary Sources are fixed and cannot be changed. (greyed out)

b) If both of these say ‘None’ you will not be able to record – at least one Primary Source must be selected in order for Panopto to record.

c) If you need to record your session, you can try restarting the whole lectern system to see if Panopto then picks up the microphones and/or camera.
